Lando Norris Pokes Fun at F1’s Glitzy 75th Anniversary Event: “I’d Rather Be at Home”

Lando Norris is stepping into the 2025 Formula 1 season with an unshakeable resolve: no excuses, no distractions—just a clear focus on the ultimate prize. After a heart-wrenching runner-up finish in 2024, the McLaren star is determined to mount a serious title challenge this year, fueled by a strong finish to the previous season and the backing of a team that has proven itself ready for the fight.

For many, Norris is the driver to beat in 2025. The Briton has emerged as one of the favorites for the crown, with McLaren’s resurgence making them one of the most promising teams on the grid. However, standing in his way is the indomitable Max Verstappen, the four-time World Champion who will undoubtedly be looking to extend his dominance in the sport. But Norris isn’t backing down.

Norris Sets High Expectations: ‘We Have Everything We Need’

Reflecting on his near-miss in 2024, Norris is resolute in his belief that McLaren has laid the foundation for a title-winning campaign in 2025. “I hope so for sure,” Norris said when asked about his status as a title favorite. “After last year, we kind of have no excuses. We’ve had our fair share in the past, but this year we don’t have any. We have nothing to hide behind.”

Norris is confident that McLaren’s improvements have given them the tools they need to compete at the top level. Despite a slow start last year that ultimately cost him in the title race, the 24-year-old is adamant that they have put everything in place to fight for wins and championships in 2025. “We proved last year we have everything we need and everything it takes to fight at the top and be the best.”

The McLaren Advantage: No Room for Error in 2025

Norris isn’t just relying on his own abilities; he believes the entire McLaren team is primed for the challenge. “If we’re not quick at the beginning of the season, then we’re just not good enough,” he acknowledged. “We’ve not done a good enough job. But that’s certainly not how we’re thinking of things. It’s not how our mentality has been.”

With the new season already underway for the engineers back at McLaren’s factory, Norris is fully confident that the team will deliver a car capable of competing at the front. He added, “A lot of what Formula 1 is, is having a car that can compete. I think we both, as drivers, proved a lot last year, in ourselves and in each other, of what we’re capable of doing. Where we do have a car that’s capable of fighting for wins and championships, we’re able to maximize it.”

Ready for the Challenge: Norris and McLaren Set Sights on Glory

As McLaren enters 2025 as a serious title contender, Norris is more prepared than ever to take on the challenge. With a team that is more motivated than ever and a car that promises to be competitive, Norris is poised to make his title bid. “We’re ready and we’re excited for that challenge,” Norris said. “But we also have a whole team behind us who are also excited.”

Having finished 63 points behind Verstappen in 2024, Norris knows that this season represents his best chance to seize the crown. With McLaren’s upward trajectory and his own growing confidence, Norris is ready to take on the sport’s best—and this time, there will be no excuses.
