Ralf Schumacher Launches Scathing Attack on Lando Norris: “Lacks Overtaking Skills”

In a shocking turn of events, former German racing driver, Ralf Schumacher, has unleashed a brutal criticism on McLaren’s current ace, Lando Norris, following his lackluster performance at the Miami Grand Prix. Norris, who finished second in the race behind his teammate Oscar Piastri, found himself in the hot seat after failing to hold his ground against reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

Schumacher, now a TV commentator, did not mince his words when he called out Norris for his inability to make successful overtakes on the track. Speaking on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, the former Jordan, Williams, and Toyota driver suggested that Norris should study the overtaking techniques of other drivers on the grid, even going as far as praising a rookie for being more skilled in this aspect than the current vice-world champion.

The German racing veteran did not hold back, stating, “What is certain is that he [Norris] is not able to do this [overtaking], otherwise, he would be performing better. He’s been around long enough, there are no excuses for this.” Schumacher highlighted Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, and even Bearman as prime examples of how to execute overtaking maneuvers successfully, implying that Norris lacks this crucial skill.

It seems that Schumacher believes Norris is past the point of learning and improving in this area, bluntly stating, “He tried, but he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that became a problem. I repeat, he cannot learn and will remain that way. This means that for him, it is only possible [to win the championship] through dominance and if he leads and makes no mistakes.”

With such harsh criticism coming from a seasoned figure in the racing world, the spotlight is now on Norris to prove his detractors wrong and show that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. As the racing season unfolds, all eyes will be on the McLaren driver to see if he can rise to the challenge and silence his critics once and for all.
