Lando Norris conquista o topo na qualificação do Grande Prêmio da China de 2024, mira primeira vitória na Fórmula 1.

In an exciting twist during the sprint qualifying, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes initially appeared to have secured the first position.

Lando Norris is set to start at the front position in the Sprint event at the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix, marking the peak of a promising and challenging career in Formula 1.

The Saturday Sprint takes place before the determination of the starting grid for the main race on Sunday at the Shanghai International Circuit.

This race is particularly notable for being the first Chinese Grand Prix since 2019.

In an exciting twist during the sprint qualifying, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes initially appeared to have secured the first position.

However, a decision by race stewards to reinstate Norris’s previously discarded lap confirmed his position at the front.

An ecstatic Norris responded to his performance in challenging wet conditions with an enthusiastic “Yeah, baby! Beautiful,” as he navigated his McLaren around the circuit.

This moment of triumph starkly contrasts with a challenging incident at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix.

Norris was on the verge of securing his first F1 victory, leading for several laps, but a crucial mistake just three laps before the end allowed Hamilton to close a significant gap and steal the win – his 100th career victory.

Reflecting on the incident, Norris shared with Sky Sports: “I don’t know where to start. I’m unhappy, devastated in a way.” Later, he expressed his frustration on social media, succinctly tweeting: “Shattered.”

Despite the setback, Norris supported the strategic decision made during the race, acknowledging his role in choosing to stay on track rather than pit.

“It was the wrong decision in the end, but I made the decision as much as the team,” he admitted.

The starting grid for the Chinese GP will feature Norris in the front, followed by Hamilton, Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, Max Verstappen of Red Bull, and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari.

Carlos #Sainz addresses Ferrari’s concerns

At 24 years old, Norris continues to chase his first win in F1.

Despite several near-victories, including seven second places and 14 podiums, the win remains elusive.

Currently, he sits in fifth place in the 2024 drivers’ standings with 37 points, and his team, McLaren, holds third place in the constructors’ standings, even surpassing Mercedes.
