Lando Norris admits he must find a way to manage self-criticism following Guenther Steiner’s harsh comments

Lando Norris, one of the rising stars of Formula 1, recently shared a surprising revelation about his journey to the pinnacle of motorsport. Despite his success, Norris admitted that he never truly believed he would make it to Formula 1. Instead, he focused on hard work and dedication throughout his junior career, rather than relying on self-belief.

In a candid interview, Norris expressed that while many successful athletes often attribute their achievements to strong self-belief, his path was different. He acknowledged that he didn’t always have the confidence that he would reach Formula 1, let alone become one of its top drivers. Instead, he emphasized that perseverance and effort were the driving forces behind his ascent in motorsport.

“People often say you need a lot of self-belief to achieve great things, but I don’t completely agree with that,” Norris stated. “I didn’t have a strong belief in myself when working towards my F1 career. For me, hard work and dedication mattered more than just believing I would get here.”

Norris pointed out that while he has only one race win to his name, his consistent effort and preparation behind the scenes have kept him competitive in Formula 1. He believes that the process of working tirelessly, even when the results don’t immediately follow, is what has allowed him to sustain his position at the top level of the sport.

The 2024 season has seen Norris emerge as one of the top three drivers, yet he admits he is still learning and figuring out what works best for him. He sees this ongoing process of self-discovery and adaptation as crucial to his continued success. “Even though I’m one of the top drivers this year, I’m still trying to understand myself and improve,” Norris added. “It’s about constantly evolving and not just resting on your laurels.”

Norris’s journey underscores the importance of hard work and resilience over merely relying on self-belief. His story is a testament to the idea that success can be achieved through relentless effort and a willingness to learn and adapt, regardless of the initial doubts or uncertainties.
