Lando Norris Declares: “I Have What It Takes to Win an F1 Title”

As Hamilton gears up for a historic move to Ferrari, McLaren’s rising star believes the seven-time champion made the right call—now, the battle is on.

Lewis Hamilton’s bombshell switch to Ferrari has sent shockwaves through Formula 1, marking the biggest transfer move in recent history. But while many have questioned whether leaving Mercedes at 40 is a wise decision, McLaren’s Lando Norris believes it’s a calculated risk worth taking.

In an interview on ITV’s This Morning, Norris didn’t just support Hamilton’s move—he admitted he would have done the same in his position.

“It’s a cool story for him to go to Ferrari after everything he’s achieved. It’s a cool step. A lot of people said it’s probably not the right thing to do… I would probably do the same if I was in his position.”

A Risk or a Fairytale Ending? Hamilton Eyes One Last Title

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari is not just about a fresh start—it’s about chasing an eighth world championship to break Michael Schumacher’s all-time record.

After dominating 84 race wins and six titles at Mercedes, the Briton endured two brutal years of underperformance, leading to a shocking decision: leaving the team that defined his legacy for a final shot at glory with F1’s most iconic team.

But not everyone believes it’s a golden opportunity. Some see it as a huge gamble, especially with Ferrari playing catch-up to McLaren and Red Bull in recent seasons.

Yet, for Norris, Hamilton’s hunger remains intact—and that’s what makes the move exciting.

“I know he’s going to want to go there with a fresh mindset and show everyone that he’s still got the Lewis Hamilton he showed for many, many years prior.”

The Norris vs. Hamilton Rivalry Just Got Personal

In 2024, McLaren delivered one of the biggest turnarounds in modern F1 history, clinching their first Constructors’ Championship since 1998 while Norris secured four Grand Prix wins and finished runner-up in the drivers’ standings.

And now? Hamilton’s Ferrari is shaping up as McLaren’s top rival for 2025.

Norris isn’t shying away from the challenge.

“When I am on track, it doesn’t make a difference. He’s a competitor and he’s a guy I want to beat.”

“Hopefully, I am excited to race against him more this year. It’s always an honour to race against someone like him.”

With the regulations unchanged and Ferrari closing the gap, Norris vs. Hamilton could define the 2025 season.

Is this the ultimate passing of the torch, or will Hamilton prove the doubters wrong and add one final chapter to his legendary career?

The battle begins soon.
