Lancia, a brand coveted by motorsport fans worldwide, has a rich history in the world of rallying. In fact, Lancia holds the record for being the most successful brand in rallying, with 15 World Rally Championships and three Constructors’ Championships. However, in recent decades, Lancia has struggled to find its place.
But now, there seems to be hope for Lancia in Italy. Good news is that Lancia is making a comeback in rallying with its latest release, the Ypsilon. Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand, believes that Lancia has always had a special place in people’s hearts, thanks to its competitive spirit and iconic models of the past.
The Ypsilon comes equipped with a powerful turbocharged three-cylinder 1.2-liter engine, delivering 215 hp. While it falls slightly short of the range-topping Ypsilon HF, it still offers impressive performance with a five-speed sequential transmission and limited-slip differential. The car also features a new roof air intake, vented hood, straight-cut white wheels, and a more defined front grille. However, the highlight is the striking paint job, with blue stripes along the sides and a red line down the center, complemented by various HF logos.
It is important to note that the Rally 4 HF is not meant to be a successor to the legendary Integrale, known for its deafening performance. Instead, it will be used exclusively to compete in the ‘R4’ entry-level rally class. However, if the Rally 4 HF proves to be a resounding success, who knows what the future holds for Lancia in the world of rallying.
