Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll Breaks Unwanted F1 Record with Shocking Qualifying Exit

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll has made headlines in Formula 1, but not for the reasons he would have hoped. Despite becoming the most experienced F1 driver ever produced by Canada, Stroll has found himself at the top of a less desirable list in the sport.

During the preparation for the fifth round of the 2025 season at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Stroll failed to secure a positive starting position, leading to his exit after Q1. This unfortunate result has now solidified Stroll’s position as the driver with the most Q1 exits in the history of Formula 1, a record no one aims to achieve.

Stroll, the son of Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll, has been competing in F1 since 2017, initially with Williams before moving to Racing Point and eventually Aston Martin. Despite his experience, Stroll’s qualifying struggles have been evident, with the recent race in Jeddah marking his 75th Q1 exit, surpassing all other drivers in F1 history.

The 26-year-old’s woes continued as he failed to move up the grid during the race, finishing in 16th place. Stroll’s string of Q1 exits in the 2025 season’s first triple-header further cements his position at the top of the unwanted qualifying record list.

With no signs of improvement in his qualifying performance, Stroll’s lead in this unenviable statistic is expected to grow. Having failed to advance past Q1 in every race of the triple-header, Stroll’s struggles on Saturdays have translated into disappointing Sundays on the track.

As Stroll grapples with this record-breaking feat, F1 fans are left wondering if the Canadian driver can turn the tide and overcome his qualifying woes in the remaining races of the season.
