“Lamborghini will continue to postpone electrification: ‘customers want combustion engines.'”

Purists can rest easy, as Lamborghini customers continue to prefer V8 or V12 combustion engines over 100% electric models.

This was stated by Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, in an interview with the American television channel ABC, making it clear that electric models will not take on a primary role in the Italian luxury brand for now.

Although the Sant’Agata Bolognese house has recently launched two hybrid super sports cars, the Revuelto and the Temerario, and has plans to make the Urus a partially electric SUV, Winkelmann claims that 100% electric vehicles do not make sense for the company at this time.

“We could build a very powerful and very fast fully electric car, but it’s not about what we can do, it’s about fulfilling the dreams of our customers”, said the CEO of Lamborghini.

“Customers want combustion engines”, Winkelmann added. In this regard, the Italian brand will continue to offer V12 engines as long as it is legally possible and technically feasible.

Remember that Lamborghini presented the prototype Lanzador in 2023, which it described as the brand’s vision of the first fully electric model expected to hit the market in 2028.
