Cliff Daniles is excited about Kyle Larson’s performance during the double race weekend. Larson, along with his team boss Cliff Daniels, attempted the iconic Double during the Memorial weekend of 2024. Larson raced in the Indy 500 with Arrow McLaren and planned to race in the Coca Cola 600 with HMS. However, due to a rain delay in Indy and the cancellation of the race at CMS by NASCAR, Larson was unable to participate in the race in Charlotte.
Larson’s debut in Indy resulted in a disappointing 18th place. Despite this, Daniels, in a podcast interview, expressed that the attempt was a success. He also emphasized the difficulty and competitiveness of the race in Indy, noting that a small mistake in the pit stop cost Larson a place in the top five. This highlights the need for flawless performance to win the most important race.
While Larson was in Indy, another driver was assigned to drive the Chevy No:5 until Larson’s return to Charlotte. This driver had a good race on the track, impressing the HMS team with his bravery. Daniels expressed admiration for the team and the drivers, despite the disappointing result in Indy and Larson’s inability to race at CMS. Larson received a waiver to continue fighting for the championship, and Daniels will do everything possible to make that a reality.
