Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, has firmly cemented his legacy as one of the sport’s top talents, and now, the Hendrick Motorsports star is sharing his vision for the future. With 23 wins and a championship under his belt since joining HMS, Larson has expressed his desire to finish his career with the iconic Chevy powerhouse.

A second chapter filled with success

Larson joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2021 after weathering one of the most challenging periods of his career. Since then, the driver of the No. 5 car has been unstoppable, capturing the Cup Series title in his debut season with the team and consistently competing at the highest level.

“I love being at Hendrick Motorsports; they’re the best,” Larson said. “I hope to be there until I’m done.”

At 31, Larson is aware that he’s entered the second phase of his career, and his priorities have shifted. Now a father of three, Larson is balancing the chaos of family life with the relentless demands of NASCAR, a challenge he embraces with gratitude and determination.

Life moves fast at Hendrick

Reflecting on his time at Hendrick Motorsports, Larson admitted that his years with the team have flown by, thanks to the unparalleled success he’s experienced.

“Life just goes by faster as you get older,” Larson remarked. “I feel like I was at Ganassi (Racing) for a super long time, and I’ve already been at Hendrick for close to the same length. But we’re having more success now, so that helps things go by quicker.”

The stark contrast between his time at Chip Ganassi Racing and Hendrick Motorsports is clear to Larson. At Ganassi, race wins were rare and hard-fought, with only a handful of weekends offering a realistic shot at victory. But at Hendrick, every race is an opportunity to shine.

“Back when I first started, there were only a handful of races throughout the year where I felt like I could maybe win,” Larson explained. “But now, being at Hendrick, you get excited every week because you feel like you have a shot to lead lots of laps and execute and have it turn out to win.”

The road ahead

Larson’s comments underscore how much he cherishes his time with Hendrick Motorsports, and he’s eager to continue competing at the highest level for as long as he can. While the end of his NASCAR journey may not be imminent, Larson is already contemplating what his legacy might look like—and he’s determined to make the most of the time he has left.

With his unwavering commitment to excellence and the full backing of Hendrick Motorsports, Kyle Larson’s future remains as bright as ever. The question is, how many more trophies will he add to his collection before hanging up his helmet?
