Kyle Larson put on a masterclass performance at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, dominating the field and leading over 400 laps to secure his second win of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season in the Food City 500.
Larson, who had been fast all weekend, took control early on Lap 40 from his teammate Alex Bowman, marking the first lead change of the day. The NASCAR veteran then cruised through the first stage, leading 85 laps and claiming the stage win. Despite the challenges some drivers faced with tire wear throughout the weekend, Larson’s team managed to keep his car in perfect condition, ensuring he stayed competitive throughout the race.
The race didn’t see its first caution until Lap 178 when Shane Van Gisbergen spun. Most drivers chose to stay out on the track, and after the caution, Larson retained his position at the front. He continued his dominant run, finishing the second stage in first place and leading 211 of the first 250 laps.
As the race entered Stage 3, Bowman faced engine issues that forced him to retire to the garage, leaving Larson to extend his lead. Green flag pit stops on Lap 388 saw Larson temporarily lose the lead to Ryan Blaney, but the advantage was short-lived as Blaney made a pit stop of his own. Larson quickly regained the lead on Lap 439 and never looked back, dominating the remainder of the race.
The victory at Bristol follows a successful weekend for Larson, who also won the Xfinity Series race on Saturday. The win marks his second of the 2025 season and further solidifies his place as one of the top contenders in the Cup Series.
