Kyle Larson Dominates Dirt Again—Takes Down Christopher Bell Ahead of Daytona 500

With the Daytona 500 just days away, most NASCAR fans expected Kyle Larson’s focus to be locked on the Great American Race. But Yung Money had other plans.

Less than 30 miles from Daytona, Larson was busy doing what he does best—winning. The Hendrick Motorsports star outdueled Christopher Bell to capture the Dirt Car Nationals title, proving yet again that he’s not just a Cup Series contender, but a short-track juggernaut.

And the cherry on top? A $20,000 payday, courtesy of his 36th career World of Outlaws victory—a major slice of a massive $300,000 race purse.

Larson Outguns Bell in Dirt Car Nationals Showdown

Larson’s dominant run capped off a thrilling week at Volusia Speedway Park, where he fended off Christopher Bell’s late charge to secure the coveted “Gator” trophy as the week’s best performer.

A post on X summed up his epic victory:
“Kyle Larson wins a second World of Outlaws feature this week and the overall ‘Gator’ trophy as best of the week at Volusia.”

Starting from pole, Larson looked untouchable early on, but with Bell charging to second place and lapped traffic creating chaos, the race turned into a high-speed chess match.

A timely caution flag gave Larson the reset he needed. From there, he never looked back, defending against Bell’s attacks and parking his No. 57 Silva machine in victory lane.

The moment became even more special as his son, Owen, joined him for the celebrations.

For most racers, the $20,000 prize would be the main takeaway—but for Larson, it was all about the thrill of beating a top-tier rival.

A Dirt Duel for the Ages: Bell vs. Larson

With Christopher Bell given full freedom by Joe Gibbs Racing to chase his dirt racing dreams, it was clear he would be a major threat at Volusia.

The two Cup stars traded blows all week, setting up an epic rivalry:

  • Thursday Night: Bell edges out Larson for the victory.
  • Friday Night: Larson strikes back, leading all 25 laps to take the win.
  • Saturday Night: The ultimate showdown—Larson wins the “Gator” trophy.

Speaking after the race, Larson acknowledged Bell’s raw talent, calling it a Cup Series battle spilling onto the dirt.

“You know how good both are, especially, you know, Bell not racing this stuff for a long time. So yeah, it’s pretty neat that two Cup guys on Sunday are tied with one lead in the Outlaw tour currently. I think that’s really awesome.”

Bell’s speed in the iconic No. 69K was no surprise to Larson:

“Obviously, with him going to 69K, you knew he’d be extremely fast. So yeah, it’s fun to have him back and good to win one in front of him.”

Can Larson Carry This Momentum to Daytona?

With his dirt track dominance reaffirmed, the big question now looms—can Kyle Larson bring this same fire to the Daytona 500?

Despite an unlucky 2024 NASCAR season, Larson remains one of the sport’s biggest threats. His versatility across multiple disciplines is unmatched, and his ability to win in anything with four wheels makes him a dangerous contender at any track.

Could this Dirt Car Nationals victory be the perfect confidence boost to break his Daytona curse?

One thing is certain—Kyle Larson is heating up just in time for NASCAR’s biggest race.
