The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion is currently facing one of the most challenging periods of his career, as his No. 8 RCR Chevrolet has underperformed this season. To add to his nightmares, last week he was involved in a collision with the JTGD Racing car, resulting in a punch to his face.
It all started when Kyle Busch wrecked the No. 47 Chevrolet on the second lap of the All-Star race, causing him to retire from the race. Stenhouse Jr., who was trapped inside the circuit due to the lack of tunnels in the NWB, fulfilled his promise and confronted the veteran right after the race, surprisingly punching him.
While Stenhouse Jr. spoke extensively about the incident, Busch remained silent until now. He finally broke his silence during an interview on the Kenny Wallace Show, where he admitted he felt the whole incident was a surprise attack. No one had informed the veteran about the frustrated driver and his team waiting for him before his trailer.
Discussing the root cause of the incident, Busch mentioned he wrecked the No. 47 Chevrolet because it made contact with the No. 8 RCR car. Busch believed Stenhouse should not have retaliated considering the Chevrolet had already made contact with the wall.
According to recent reports, the rivalry between the two drivers seems to have ended, as they have reportedly talked to each other. However, it will be interesting to see how this intense racing rivalry will unfold in the upcoming races.
