KRISTAPS PORZINGIS PUTS BOSTON CELTICS’ WORST LOSS IN PERSPECTIVE

In a shocking turn of events, the Boston Celtics suffered a devastating loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite being a 15-point favorite and facing a Lakers team without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Celtics failed to deliver. The Lakers stole the show from the beginning, securing a 114-105 victory on February 1.

This defeat marks the Celtics’ third loss in their last five home games, tarnishing their previously flawless record at TD Garden. The team had an impressive 20-game winning streak at home to start the season. The loss to the Lakers has sparked discussions, especially after recent losses to the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers at home.

While the Nuggets and Clippers are top contenders in the Western Conference, the Lakers’ losing record did not hinder their performance against the Celtics. They outplayed Boston throughout the entire game, leaving the Celtics in a state of disappointment.

However, Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis remains optimistic despite the setback. He views the loss as a typical occurrence in the NBA and believes it is crucial for the team to learn from it. Porzingis acknowledges that fans may perceive the defeat as catastrophic, but he emphasizes that it is simply a loss. The team plans to utilize the upcoming days of rest to recharge and come back with renewed energy.

As Porzingis aptly puts it, “You win or you learn.”

the tabloid format:

CELTICS’ 3-POINT WOES CONTINUE IN LOSS AGAINST LAKERS

In what seems to be a recurring problem for the Celtics, their struggles from beyond the arc cost them another game. Despite their 15 turnovers, it was their abysmal 33% shooting from long range that ultimately sealed their fate. The Celtics managed to convert only 16 of their 48 attempts, while the Lakers capitalized on their opportunities, sinking an impressive 19 out of 36 shots from downtown, boasting a remarkable 52% success rate.

Long-range shooting seemed to be the Celtics’ sole strategy, as they neglected to attack the paint and draw fouls. They made a mere seven trips to the free-throw line, making all seven attempts. Surprisingly, only Porzingis and Tatum, out of the entire starting lineup, managed to earn free throws, each going a perfect 2-for-2.

In contrast, the Lakers took advantage of their aggressive playstyle, earning 26 trips to the charity stripe. They converted 19 of their free-throw attempts, further solidifying their dominance over the Celtics.

Despite the disappointing performance, Porzingis remains optimistic about the team’s future. “You win or you learn,” he stated after the game. “Losses provide valuable lessons that victories often fail to deliver. We always strive to improve, even after a win. However, the impact of a loss is undeniably greater. It forces us to reflect on our shortcomings and motivates us to grow. This defeat will ultimately benefit us in the long run.”
