Las Vegas Raiders Loses Offensive Coordinator to Washington Commanders
In a surprising turn of events, Kliff Kingsbury has withdrawn himself from the offensive coordinator position with the Las Vegas Raiders. Instead, he has struck a deal with the Washington Commanders. Many speculate that the Commanders were able to lure him away by offering him the opportunity to work with USC star QB Caleb Williams once again, as they had previously worked together in college.
However, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, there is more to the story. Schefter recently revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” that the Raiders were unwilling to offer Kingsbury a third year in his contract, while the Commanders were more than happy to do so. This contractual dispute ultimately tipped the scales in favor of the Commanders, making it an easy decision for Kingsbury to join forces with Dan Quinn.
It’s no surprise that the Commanders were aggressive in their pursuit of a new offensive coordinator. They had one of the worst offenses in the league last season and failed to attract any interest from Eric Bieniemy for the head coach position. Kingsbury, although not finding much success as a head coach, has always been highly regarded for his offensive expertise. It will be intriguing to see what he can accomplish in the nation’s capital.
