Kimi Antonelli dominates FP3 at Japanese Grand Prix: can Mercedes catch the rising star?

Kimi Antonelli Dominates FP3 at Japanese Grand Prix: A Look at the Shocking Results!

In a thrilling display of speed and precision, Kimi Antonelli has stormed to the top of the timing sheets in Free Practice 3 for the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix, leaving his Mercedes teammate, George Russell, trailing by a significant margin of +0.254 seconds. Antonelli's performance not only showcased his skill but also set the stage for an electrifying race weekend at the legendary Suzuka Circuit.

Charles Leclerc, driving for Ferrari, clinched the third spot in this final practice session, demonstrating that the Scuderia is in formidable form as they gear up for the main event. Not far behind were Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton, with Hamilton's second Ferrari showing promising pace. However, the session was not without its controversies, as Piastri is now under investigation for allegedly impeding Nico Hulkenberg at the notorious 130R corner early in the hour, a situation that could have serious implications for his race strategy.

Meanwhile, not all was smooth sailing for McLaren. Lando Norris experienced yet another frustrating practice session, marred by a battery issue with his MCL40 that delayed his track time until well past the halfway mark. This setback follows an already troublesome FP2 that saw him grappling with a hydraulic leak. Despite the ongoing challenges, the reigning drivers' champion managed to secure the sixth fastest time, a testament to his tenacity and skill under pressure.

The session further highlighted Red Bull's ongoing struggles, with Max Verstappen finishing down in eighth place, a worrying sign for the team as they battle to regain their competitive edge. Isack Hadjar also fell short of expectations, finishing in P11. As the drivers gear up for what promises to be a thrilling race, all eyes will be on the full results from FP3 at the Japanese Grand Prix, as teams and fans alike prepare for the adrenaline-pumping action ahead!

Stay tuned for more updates as the excitement builds for the race day showdown!
