The new Kia EV9, a seven-seater 100% electric SUV, achieved the maximum five-star rating in another round of Euro NCAP tests, the leading independent vehicle safety assessment program in Europe.
The EV9 performed very well throughout the entire safety testing process, reflecting the active and passive safety technologies equipped in the vehicle.
Thus, the EV9 obtained a rating of 84% in adult occupant protection, 88% in child occupant protection, a rating of 76% in vulnerable road user protection, such as pedestrians and cyclists, and a rating of 83% in safety assistance systems.
Euro NCAP praised the EV9’s behavior in passenger protection due to the stability observed in the frontal impact test, protecting the knees and femur of all occupants, regardless of their size and seating position.
In the side barrier test, the EV9 achieved the maximum score, providing strong protection to all areas of the driver and passengers’ bodies. The SUV was also praised for its advanced eCall system, which allows alerting emergency services in case of an accident. The tests also revealed the EV9’s benign nature in terms of effects on other vehicles in case of a frontal collision.
