Kia began production of the new five-door EV4 in the second half of August, the brand’s first fully electric vehicle to be manufactured in Europe. The start of production comes after an extensive update of the production lines at Kia’s European factory, located in Slovakia.
Designed specifically for the European market, the EV4 will be exclusively assembled at Kia AutoLand Slovakia, representing a decisive step in the electrification strategy of the range in Europe.
“The start of EV4 production is a huge milestone for us. It demonstrates the technical capability and flexibility of our operations in Europe”, emphasized Marc Hedrich, President and CEO of Kia Europe. “From now on, Slovakia will produce fully electric vehicles alongside hybrid and internal combustion models. By expanding our production capabilities, we further support the diversity of our European customer base.”
Based on the global electric modular platform (E-GMP) of the group, the EV4 combines performance and efficiency, offering two battery options: the standard 58.3 kWh capacity and a longer-range option with 81.4 kWh. Additionally, the new EV4 integrates features such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).
The sedan’s profile is marked by an elegant and aerodynamic silhouette, incorporating a low hood line that flows back into a “long tail” design with a sloping rear window.
Another distinguishing detail is the rear lights, which in the case of the sedan version are vertical, like the headlights at the front, while in the case of the hatchback, they have a more appealing look, with an LED set and a light bar.
The new EV4 will feature GT-Line versions, which present exclusive design elements, in addition to the innovative base model, creating a more dynamic character. The front and rear bumpers in wing shape provide a stronger and more elegant impression, while the 19’’ wheels with triangular patterns enhance the futuristic and dynamic feel of the EV4.
