To the surprise of many in the NASCAR community, it was announced through a statement that they will be ceasing operations in 2024. The team’s decision has left over 300 people associated with the sport uncertain about their future, as drivers and team members have little time to find new opportunities.
The wife of the NASCAR Cup champion, who achieved victory with SHR in 2014 and is a close friend of Tony Stewart, was shocked by the announcement. She was part of the team from 2014 to 2023, when Harvick retired from the sport and joined Fox Sports as a commentator.
For the Harvick family, SHR has been like a second family, and the No. 4 team holds a special place in their hearts. In response to the news, she expressed concern for the unemployed SHR team and sent positive energy for the team’s final chapter, despite half the season still remaining.
I heard the rumors, just like everyone else, but seeing them in writing is still hard to believe… My dad and I were incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a fantastic group of people for the final chapter of his career. SHR was like a second family, especially team 4, and my heart…
With all four SHR Cup teams ceasing operations, top engineers and crew chiefs are now available on the market. Kevin Harvick hopes that top teams will compete to secure the best talents from the group of 300 employees.
There will also be a high demand in the market for SHR charters, and teams that acquire these charters will be looking to recruit the best professionals from SHR. The wild NASCAR 2024-25 season is destined to become even more chaotic as the season progresses.
