Max Verstappen’s breathtaking drive from 17th to 1st in the rain-soaked Brazilian Grand Prix has drawn high praise from former F1 driver Karun Chandhok, who compared it favorably to Lewis Hamilton’s celebrated skill in wet conditions. Chandhok, well-regarded for his F1 analysis, believes Verstappen’s performance at Interlagos showcased an unparalleled mastery, proving that the Dutch driver alone could deliver such a dominant result on that day.

“It’s hugely impressive,” Chandhok said. “Lewis [Hamilton] is a wet-weather master, but on this day, it was only Verstappen who could just come through the pack.”

Chandhok’s comments underline Verstappen’s growing legacy in F1, especially his ability to conquer wet races. Verstappen has a history of rain-soaked brilliance, with his memorable 2016 performance at Interlagos often regarded as one of his best. Chandhok highlighted that Verstappen’s approach mirrors that of other F1 greats, who aim not only to win but to obliterate the competition.

“They don’t just want to win but… to put a marker down and say ‘we’re going to destroy the opposition and show you how far ahead we can get,’” Chandhok explained.

Verstappen’s remarkable 19-second lead at the finish served as a powerful reminder of his dominance, effectively dashing any remaining hopes for rival Lando Norris in the 2024 championship battle. As the next race approaches, all eyes are on Verstappen to see if he can officially secure his fourth title in Las Vegas, cementing his place among F1’s all-time greats.
