United Autosports has announced the addition of American-Ecuadorian driver Juan Manuel Correa to their roster for the remaining IMSA Endurance Cup races, starting with the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 15. This marks Correa’s debut in the North American IMSA SportsCar Championship, an exciting step in his already remarkable career.

Correa, who successfully competed in the 2022 European Le Mans Series with Prema Racing in LMP2 machinery, is also known for his participation in the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship. His stint included the historic Centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now, he’s preparing to bring his racing prowess to the United States.

“I’m thrilled to be back racing stateside after an extended period in Europe,” Correa expressed. “IMSA has been on my radar for a while, so it is exciting to join the grid for the remaining endurance events.” Correa’s enthusiasm for the upcoming races is palpable, as he looks forward to collaborating with his new teammates. He added, “I’m eager to start working with my new teammates and team, I am confident we will find shared success.”

The team Correa will be joining includes #2 Oreca 07 LMP2 drivers Nick Boulle and Ben Hanley. Garnet Patterson, who had a one-off appearance at Daytona, has completed his stint. This reshuffling comes after the #2 Oreca was involved in a multi-car accident during the 24 Hours of Daytona on February 25-26, which resulted in race-ending damage.

United Autosports CEO, Richard Dean, has high hopes for the team’s future with Correa onboard. “It is great to welcome Juan to the IMSA team,” said Dean. “I’ve been keeping an eye on his progress in endurance racing and, with an ELMS race win and solid results in the WEC, it’s clear he will be a strong addition to our line-up.”

Dean also reflected on the potential of the IMSA crew, stating, “Our #2 IMSA crew had huge potential at Daytona and with the addition of Juan and a bit more luck on our side, I look forward to celebrating their IMSA successes this season.”

Looking forward, the second round of the Endurance Cup will be the 73rd running of the 12 Hours of Sebring. This will be followed by six-hour races at Watkins Glen and Indianapolis, all leading up to the grand season finale – the 10-hour Petit Le Mans. With Correa now part of the United Autosports team, fans and competitors alike eagerly await the unfolding of the remainder of the IMSA Endurance Cup season.
