Josh Villiams criticizes Ty Gibbs for causing a major incident in the Xfinity Series race in Sonoma.

Josh Villiams critica Ty Gibbs por causar um grande incidente na corrida da Série Xfinity em Sonoma.

Ty Gibbs was not entirely at fault for the incident. During the NASCAR Cup Series race in Sonoma, a major accident involving over ten cars occurred. The chaotic event took place during a restart, with only 30 laps remaining in the race. Josh Williams, an experienced driver involved in the accident, expressed his anger towards the drivers involved.

Williams indirectly criticized Ty Gibbs, who drives the No. 19 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing as part of his part-time involvement. Williams stated that the race was ruined by wealthy individuals with a poor pit stop. Before the restarts, Gibbs made a pit stop and, due to a below-par performance, he dropped ten positions. Therefore, it can be inferred that Williams was directing his criticism towards Gibbs.

However, the incident was not entirely Gibbs’ fault, as it initially seemed. Like the Kaulig driver, Gibbs found himself in the middle of the accident with several cars. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds between the two in the future, especially when the No. 54 Cup driver participates in partial starts in the Xfinity or when Williams competes in the main division.

After being involved in the accident, the 2022 Xfinity Series champion had to use some creative maneuvers to navigate through the chaos. He had to do a “donut” to turn his car around, which had spun backwards during the collision. In the process, he made contact with several cars, potentially increasing Josh Williams’ frustration.

Gibbs has already put the incident behind him, focusing on his next Cup Series race on Sunday. He qualified in 10th place for the Toyota Save Mart 350 and hopes to secure his first Cup win this week, although it will be a challenging task.

Despite delivering consistent performances throughout the 2024 season, Gibbs has not been able to convert them into victories. He is hopeful of achieving success in the mixed circuit race, as events of this nature have always been fruitful for him.
