Josh McErlean’s Rally Tragedy: M-Sport’s Triple Disaster on Sardinia Stage

In a shocking turn of events, all three M-Sport drivers faced chaos on the same treacherous stage in Rally Italy Sardinia. The rally took a disastrous turn for Josh McErlean and Mārtiņš Sesks as they were forced to retire, while Grégoire Munster’s Ford suffered heavy damage, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Munster kicked off the string of misfortunes by battling a broken rear-right suspension in his Puma Rally1 during the Telti – Calangianus – Berchidda stage. Despite the setback, he managed to complete the stage, albeit losing precious time. McErlean, who had shown promise by securing sixth place initially, had his dreams shattered after a collision on SS2 abruptly ended his rally.

However, the most heart-stopping moment came when Sesks, in a daring move, rolled his Puma at high speed in fifth gear early in the stage. Munster, the sole survivor from the M-Sport team on that stage, is facing a likely retirement due to significant damage to his car.

The drama didn’t end there, with Oliver Solberg veering off track and hitting a wall, Roope Korhonen also encountering trouble in WRC2. Meanwhile, Thierry Neuville from Hyundai leads the rally, closely followed by Ott Tänak and Adrien Fourmaux, who shares the third spot with Sami Pajari. Sébastien Ogier, initially leading, now finds himself in fifth place, trailing 6.1 seconds behind the leader.

The Rally Italy Sardinia continues to be a rollercoaster of emotions with unexpected twists and turns keeping fans and drivers alike on the edge of their seats.
