Jos Verstappen slams Lando Norris: aggressive Las Vegas move could have ended in disaster

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN - SEPTEMBER 20: Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing and Jos Verstappen arrive in the Paddock prior to final practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan at Baku City Circuit on September 20, 2025 in Baku, Azerbaijan. In a dramatic twist at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen has thrown down the gauntlet, claiming that Lando Norris’s reckless driving was solely driven by an obsession with his son, Max Verstappen. The McLaren star, starting from pole position, made a perilous lunge at the first corner, a move that could have ended in catastrophe for both drivers.

“That was too aggressive. It was a close call between the two cars, and they both could have been out of the race,” Jos vented in an exclusive interview. The tension soared as he highlighted that Norris seemed fixated on Max, neglecting crucial race fundamentals. “He simply forgets to brake for the first corner,” Jos stated emphatically, pointing out that Max had applied the brakes a full five meters earlier. This critical oversight raises eyebrows, especially given McLaren’s own chief, Zak Brown, has previously criticized Max’s aggressive tactics at the start of races. Ironically, it seems the tables have turned, and now Brown may need to reassess his driver’s strategy.

As the season hurtles toward its thrilling conclusion, the stakes have never been higher for McLaren. Jos noted that “the pressure is on at McLaren now,” with the championship title hanging precariously in the balance. If Max clinches victories in the remaining races while Norris secures second place, the Brit could emerge as the world champion. But let’s not forget Oscar Piastri, lurking in the shadows and ready to pounce on any misstep.

The contrasting performances of the two McLarens have become a hot topic. “You can clearly see a difference between the two McLarens on track, how they handle corners. One slides, the other doesn’t, and that raises questions,” Jos pointed out, underscoring the critical need for McLaren to address their car’s handling issues.

With the Qatar Grand Prix kicking off the season’s final two rounds, including the last sprint race of the year, every moment will be charged with intensity. Max, with nothing to lose, is poised to go full throttle in pursuit of glory. The fans are in for an exhilarating showdown that could redefine the championship narrative, and all eyes will be on whether Lando Norris can handle the mounting pressure or if he will falter in the face of fierce competition. Buckle up—the season finale promises to be nothing short of spectacular!
