Joey Logano discusses his anticipation for the return of the Xfinity race at Chicago. Hailie Deegan and Joey Logano entered the 2024 NASCAR season with the goal of delivering the expected performances, especially after Deegan’s success in the ARCA Mendes series. Despite underwhelming years in the Truck Series, AM Racing offered Deegan a seat. However, she has faced challenges since the first race and now finds herself in a more difficult situation.
AMR has announced that a two-time Cup champion will replace Hailie Deegan for the upcoming Chicago Street race. This decision has sparked backlash within the NASCAR community due to questionable reasons provided by the team for the replacement. The team claims that it was done to gather feedback from the racer regarding their mistakes. If that were the case, it would have been more appropriate to do it during an oval race.
Joey Logano addressed this decision during his recent appearance on the Dale Jr. Download podcast. He mentioned that it was AMR who approached him to drive, not the other way around. Logano emphasized that once he received clearance from the team, he eagerly accepted the opportunity.
It has been quite some time since the champion driver competed in the second-tier series, so he is genuinely excited to have some fun. Logano also expressed confidence in the No:15 team after visiting their facility prior to the race week.
The Penske driver hopes to benefit from the additional laps he will have in the Xfinity Series, using them to strengthen his chances of winning the Cup race while also meeting AMR’s expectations. It will be intriguing to see how the race unfolds for the experienced driver and how it will impact Deegan.
