In a spectacular showcase at the FIA Formula E testing in Jarama, Spain, Maserati MSG Racing’s Jake Hughes has made headlines by clinching the top spot in the second session, leading an impressive British 1-2-3. Hughes, a new recruit for the iconic Italian brand, left the competition in the dust, with fellow Britons Jake Dennis and Dan Ticktum trailing closely in second and third. The electrifying performance marks a thrilling moment for Maserati as they make a statement in the Formula E world with Hughes at the wheel.
Reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein took fourth place, proving that he’s still a fierce competitor. Right behind him was Hughes’ teammate, Stoffel Vandoorne, adding another strong result for Maserati MSG Racing.
Sam Bird claimed sixth despite an early scare when he skidded off-track into the gravel, temporarily halting the session with a red flag. His recovery back into the top ten was nothing short of remarkable. Meanwhile, Maximilian Günther held seventh, with last session’s top driver, António Félix da Costa, securing the eighth slot after his standout performance the day before.
Veteran Jean-Eric Vergne and Nico Müller rounded out the top ten, keeping their teams well in contention as testing continues.
The session wasn’t without drama, as a second red flag came into play near the end, this time due to Nick Cassidy’s Jaguar TCS Racing car coming to an abrupt stop on the pit straight, causing a tense delay. Cassidy’s halted car brought the day’s action to a thrilling, unexpected close.
With Hughes and Maserati roaring to the top, Formula E’s pre-season test is already brimming with anticipation, as the upcoming season promises fierce competition, unexpected turns, and electrifying battles on the track.
