Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) has announced significant upgrades to its technical and managerial team as it aims to elevate its competitiveness in the NTT IndyCar Series. The team has hired veteran race car designer and engineer Will Phillips as head of trackside engineering and promoted Tom Edwards to team manager. This comes shortly after the addition of David Brown as the team’s new technical director.

Will Phillips: A Proven Innovator Joins JHR

Will Phillips, known for his instrumental role in designing and developing the Dallara DW12 chassis while working with IndyCar, brings a wealth of experience to JHR. His deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and engineering innovation makes him a key asset as JHR looks to compete at the front of the field.

“Joining Juncos Hollinger Racing is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team that is committed to excellence and innovation,” Phillips said. “I look forward to applying my experience to help JHR achieve its competitive goals.”

Tom Edwards Promoted to Team Manager

Having been with JHR since its acquisition of Carlin Racing’s IndyCar assets, Tom Edwards’ long-standing experience with the organization positions him well to lead its operational efforts. With nearly a decade of experience at JHR, Edwards has been a critical component of the team’s growth.

“I am honored to take on the role of team manager at Juncos Hollinger Racing,” Edwards shared. “There is boundless potential for growth and success in the years ahead, as I’ve seen firsthand during my nearly decade-long journey with JHR.”

A New Era for JHR

JHR co-owners Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger have emphasized the importance of building a strong foundation as the team seeks to achieve new heights. The arrival of David Brown as technical director earlier this year was the first step, and the addition of Phillips and Edwards’ promotion further cements the team’s commitment to a brighter future.

Team principal Dave O’Neill, who joined JHR from Formula 1 last season, expressed his optimism about the new structure:

“We are thrilled to welcome Will Phillips and promote Thomas Edwards into their new roles at JHR. Will’s technical expertise and leadership in engineering are second to none, and Tom’s deep understanding of the team’s operations makes him the ideal candidate to guide us forward as team manager. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and a shared vision for our future success.”

Filling the Final Seat

JHR is among the few IndyCar teams still finalizing their 2025 driver lineup. While Sting Ray Robb has been confirmed in the team’s second entry, the primary car remains unfilled. This seat presents a unique opportunity for a driver to join a program clearly on the rise, with a reinforced technical and managerial team at the helm.

Looking Ahead

As Juncos Hollinger Racing continues to invest in talent and infrastructure, the team is sending a clear message about its ambitions for the 2025 IndyCar season and beyond. With Phillips’ engineering expertise, Edwards’ operational leadership, and Brown’s technical guidance, JHR is building a strong foundation to challenge the series’ established teams.
