Jets Eyeing Monster-Sized OL Prospect: Senior Bowl Rumors

JETS GM EYEING OKLAHOMA OFFENSIVE TACKLE AT SENIOR BOWL

The New York Jets are making their interests known at the 2024 Senior Bowl. According to scout Larry Rudolph, general manager Joe Douglas has his eye on Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton. Measuring in at an impressive 6-foot-7 and 328 pounds, Guyton has caught the attention of scouts and analysts alike.

Ian Cummings of the Pro Football Network listed Guyton as one of his top risers from the event. Cummings praised Guyton’s natural athleticism, length, and flexibility, noting his ability to corral rushers with forceful extensions and steady feet.

Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus also recognized Guyton’s standout performances at the Senior Bowl. Despite some areas for improvement in his technique, Sikkema highlighted Guyton’s explosive strength and natural ability.

Connor Rogers of NBC Sports reported that all eyes were on Guyton during drills at the Senior Bowl. Describing him as fiery, Rogers noted the attention Guyton garnered due to his impressive size and intensity.

Jim Nagy, the executive director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl, spoke highly of Guyton’s athletic gifts. Nagy mentioned that Guyton even played as an H-back during his time at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma.

With the draft buzz surrounding Tyler Guyton, it seems the New York Jets are seriously considering adding him to their offensive line. Will Guyton be the missing piece to protect their quarterback? Only time will tell.

OKLAHOMA SOONERS: “OLU” Program Reloads with Tyler Guyton at Right Tackle

In the ongoing debate about which college football program has been the most dominant in producing offensive linemen over the past decade, the University of Oklahoma (OU) must be included in the conversation. The Sooners are set to reload once again this year with the addition of talented right tackle Tyler Guyton. Guyton, who is currently near the top of the Senior Bowl offensive lineman board, has already caught the attention of scouts and experts.

Guyton, who previously played as an H-back at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma, has drawn comparisons to Dallas Cowboys All-Pro Tyron Smith. Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl executive director, sees Guyton’s potential and believes he could reach the same level of success as Smith did coming out of USC.

Draft experts and media analysts are predicting that the rankings for offensive tackles will be shaken up after seeing Guyton’s impressive performance at the Senior Bowl. His agility and smooth movements on the field have reminded many of Tyron Smith during his college days. Guyton’s ceiling as a player is high, and it will be interesting to see where he lands in the upcoming draft.

Despite his immense size and physicality, Guyton lacks experience as an offensive lineman. He redshirted in 2020 and only made one start as an H-back in 2021 while at TCU. In 2022, he started just five games at offensive tackle, and in the most recent season, he made nine starts at the same position for Oklahoma.

Connor Rogers, an analyst on “TOJ Talks,” highlighted Guyton’s limited experience as a potential concern for the New York Jets, who hold the 10th overall pick in the first round of the draft. However, if the Jets decide to trade down, Guyton could become a target for the team. Rogers projects that Guyton will be selected around the top 23 picks in April’s draft.

The Jets, who are in a win-now mentality this offseason, might not see Guyton as the perfect fit for their immediate needs. Rogers believes that Guyton’s development might not align with the Jets’ timeline and that they require someone who can contribute right away. Despite this, Rogers still holds Guyton in high regard and urges others not to judge him solely based on his one-year performance.

Ideally, Guyton would join a team with a strong offensive line coaching staff where he can continue to develop his skills. Placing him in a situation where he is tasked with protecting an older quarterback like Aaron Rodgers might set him up for failure. It is crucial for Guyton to find a team that can provide him with the necessary support and guidance to reach his full potential.

the tabloid format:

JETS EYEING OKLAHOMA OT TYLER GUYTON!

In an exclusive interview with Connor J. Rogers, football insider Willpa11 revealed that the New York Jets have their sights set on Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton. If the Jets decide to trade out of pick No. 10, Guyton could be their top target. However, Rogers also provided some intriguing insight on why this potential match may not be perfect for the team.

Rogers stated, “It is kind of a shame that Guyton doesn’t really fit the Jets’ timeline…”
