Jenson Button Exposes His “Biggest Weakness” Against Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso

In a heart-pounding turn of events at the Monaco Grand Prix, Jenson Button has revealed a vulnerability that haunted him during his time battling against legends Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. As Lando Norris secured an impressive pole position, Button reflected on the intense emotions and struggles he experienced during his own career.

Norris, aiming for his second pole position of the F1 2025 season, faced the ghosts of past qualifying mistakes. Despite self-criticism and doubts, Norris managed to outshine his competitors and clinch the top spot on the grid with a record-breaking lap time.

Former champion Jenson Button did not hold back, sharing his own struggles with qualifying performances against Hamilton and Alonso, who consistently pushed the limits and dominated Saturdays. Button admitted, “That was my biggest weakness, especially when I was up against people like Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, who pretty much seemed to always get the best out of the car.”

The pressure cooker of Monaco did not deter Norris, who displayed remarkable composure and skill under the spotlight. Button emphasized the significance of Norris’s achievement, highlighting the boost in confidence and momentum this victory could bring to his season.

With Hamilton holding the record for the most pole positions in F1 history and Alonso’s impressive qualifying track record, Button’s candid reflection sheds light on the mental and emotional battles that drivers face beyond the racetrack. As Norris basks in the glory of his triumph, the echoes of Button’s past struggles serve as a poignant reminder of the unforgiving nature of elite competition in Formula 1.
