Awkward Moment on Sky F1: Jenson Button’s Priceless Reaction to Danica Patrick Goes Viral!

In a jaw-dropping moment that has taken the internet by storm, Sky F1’s Jenson Button found himself in an awkward position while fellow pundit Danica Patrick dissected a major incident from the United States Grand Prix. The clip, which has gone viral, captures Button’s cringe-worthy expression as Patrick discusses the controversial collision involving Williams driver Carlos Sainz and Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli at the Circuit of the Americas.

The drama unfolded on Lap 6 of the race when Sainz attempted a risky overtaking maneuver that went spectacularly wrong. The result? A catastrophic collision that sent Sainz packing from the race and Antonelli reeling. Sainz was deemed at fault for the mishap, facing a five-place grid penalty for the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix, along with two dreaded penalty points added to his F1 superlicence.

As the two seasoned pundits sat in Austin, Texas, offering their insights post-race, Button didn’t hold back, stating, “It looked like Sainz went for a move that was late. He realised that it was too late and that Kimi had turned in. He tried to brake out of it, locked up and that’s what drove him into the side of Kimi.” Button’s analysis set the stage for Patrick’s follow-up comments, which would bring about the now-infamous moment.

Patrick pointedly remarked that Sainz had picked an unwise spot to attempt the overtake, saying, “Not the best spot to go. When you make a move in an unusual place, then you get an unusual result.” As she elaborated, her voice trailed off, and the camera cut to Button, who was caught grinning awkwardly at the camera. It was a moment that encapsulated the tension and uncertainty surrounding the incident.

With Patrick continuing her analysis and referencing a similar multi-car crash from the Turn 1 sprint race, the scene became even more cringeworthy. “You make an unusual move, you get an unusual result, so I don’t know. It was not the spot to do it,” she added, seemingly oblivious to Button’s discomfort.

This isn’t the first time the Sky F1 duo has been caught in an uncomfortable moment on air. Earlier this season, during the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix coverage, Button was similarly seen reacting to Patrick’s commentary, raising questions about their on-screen chemistry.

As fans flock to social media to share their reactions, one thing is clear: this viral clip is not just about racing—it’s a window into the sometimes awkward world of sports commentary. With the F1 season heating up, viewers are left wondering what other surprises await as the drama unfolds on and off the track!
