Jeep is proving that the Compass, despite being around for eight years, still has plenty of life left in it. Surging with popularity, the SUV racked up 84,474 sales in the U.S. through September 2024—a whopping 18% jump compared to the same period last year. But just as anticipation grows, Jeep has revealed the next chapter for the Compass, teasing an all-new version set to make its grand debut in Europe.
Today’s teaser sketch offers a tantalizing glimpse of the future. Jeep confirms the Compass will go all-electric, making the leap to the advanced STLA Medium platform. But don’t fret, purists—traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid options will still be available, ensuring there’s a Compass for every type of driver. Touted as Jeep’s “most globally available model,” the Compass is gearing up to conquer markets worldwide with its diverse range of configurations.
The manufacturing launch kicks off at Stellantis’ Melfi plant in Italy next year, with plans to expand production to North America and other regions by 2026. In the U.S., the next-generation Compass will be slotted between the upcoming Renegade and the rugged Recon, as well as a mysterious new utility vehicle scheduled for release by 2027, according to Stellantis’ June product roadmap.
Hints from the teaser suggest the new Compass will sport evolutionary changes, possibly including a fresh design twist on the quarter glass and an extended wheelbase between the C and D pillars, signaling a slightly larger footprint. This aligns with Stellantis’ approach, already seen in other models like the Peugeot 3008 and 5008, the Opel Grandland, and the upcoming Citroën C5 Aircross—all built on the same versatile STLA Medium platform.
Expect Jeep’s electric Compass to follow in the footsteps of its European siblings, such as the Peugeot E-3008, which boasts a range of up to 435 miles per charge, and offers front- and all-wheel-drive options with various battery capacities and charging speeds. With these impressive specs, Jeep’s new offering is set to become a formidable contender in the electric crossover market, blending its rugged DNA with cutting-edge technology.
As the Compass prepares to dominate both electric and combustion engine segments, one thing is certain: Jeep’s global ambitions are charging full speed ahead.
