Jean Alesi slams Ferrari’s dismal performance: is the iconic team facing a catastrophic failure?

Ferrari’s Disastrous Season: Alesi Slams Team’s Excuses as “Embarrassing”

In a scathing critique that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, former Ferrari star Jean Alesi has unleashed a torrent of criticism against the iconic Scuderia. The ex-driver, who once thrilled fans from 1991 to 1995, did not hold back during his recent column in Corriere della Sera, tearing apart the team’s disastrous performance in the 2025 Formula 1 season.

As the Formula 1 world championship approaches its final race, Ferrari finds itself languishing in a dismal fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. With a mere single pole position and no victories to boast of, the team faces a bleak reality. This season, which was supposed to be about maximizing potential and refining execution, has instead turned into a tale of missed opportunities and catastrophic decisions.

Team principal Frederic Vasseur’s justifications for the team’s lackluster performance have only added fuel to the fire. He pointed to a strategic pivot made as early as April, when Ferrari decided to halt the aerodynamic developments of the SF-25 to focus entirely on the much-anticipated 2026 project. However, Alesi dismisses this rationale as “weak,” branding it an “embarrassing attempt to shield this failure.”

The former driver emphasized the stark contrast between Ferrari’s approach and that of its competitors. Alesi pointed out that while Ferrari has stalled its development efforts, other teams have been working diligently on both current and future projects. He expressed deep concern, stating, “In Qatar, we witnessed the worst Grand Prix in living memory. I worry for the future of Ferrari.”

Alesi’s comments resonate with many fans who have watched in disbelief as the once-mighty Ferrari struggles to keep pace with its rivals. The assertion that the team has effectively given up on the current season to prepare for next year raises questions about the leadership and direction of one of the most storied teams in motorsport history.

As the clock ticks down to the final race of the season, the pressure is mounting on Ferrari. Can they salvage any pride, or will they continue to spiral into mediocrity? Alesi’s fierce critique serves as a rallying cry for change within the team and a stark reminder that, in Formula 1, excuses won’t cut it.
