Jamie Chadwick Takes the Racing World by Storm with Groundbreaking Role in 2026!

In an electrifying turn of events, Jamie Chadwick, the preeminent voice of Sky F1 and a trailblazer in the motorsport arena, has officially been announced as the reserve driver for Genesis Magma Racing in the highly anticipated 2026 World Endurance Championship (WEC). This monumental move marks a significant milestone not just in Chadwick’s illustrious career, but also for female representation in a historically male-dominated sport.

At just 27 years old, Chadwick has already made waves as one of the most recognized active female racing drivers, having clinched victory in the now-defunct W Series three times from 2019 to 2022. Her journey in motorsport took a pivotal turn when she joined Williams’ junior program in 2019, later stepping up as an ambassador for the team ahead of the 2025 season. Now, with her eyes firmly set on the future, she is ready to embrace a new challenge.

Chadwick’s recent stint in the IndyNXT series showcased her versatility and tenacity, and she further solidified her credentials in the European Le Mans Series with the Genesis-affiliated IDEC Sport team, where she claimed three victories and secured a commendable third place in the standings. This impressive track record undoubtedly paved the way for her new role with Genesis, which is set to launch its GMR-001 hypercar in the WEC’s hypercar class in 2026.

Genesis Magma Racing has revealed that Chadwick will not only serve as the team’s reserve driver but will also play a pivotal role in development, simulator work, and driving the GMR-001. While the team has yet to finalize its full roster of race drivers for next season, the excitement surrounding Chadwick’s involvement is palpable.

“I’m incredibly honored to be part of the GMR-001 hypercar’s development,” Chadwick expressed. “This is a significant step in my career, and I am thrilled at the prospect of testing and driving more. The opportunity to develop my skills in hypercars is something I can’t wait to dive into, as it will undoubtedly enhance my racing capabilities across various categories.”

Chadwick took her first turns behind the wheel of the GMR-001 at Magny-Cours, showcasing her skills in both wet and dry conditions alongside her fellow race drivers. Her initial impressions were nothing short of ecstatic: “My first laps in the GMR-001 Hypercar were nothing short of amazing. The speed and technology packed into this car are astounding, and the team is truly exceptional.”

Gabriele Tarquini, the sporting director of Genesis Magma Racing and a former F1 driver, hailed Chadwick’s contribution, stating, “Her fresh perspective and feedback as a new driver are invaluable. Jamie’s success in our Trajectory Programme within the European Le Mans Series speaks volumes, and her role will be crucial as we prepare for our inaugural season.”

This groundbreaking announcement comes on the heels of another significant moment in motorsport, as fellow Sky F1 pundit and Williams ambassador Jenson Button bid farewell to racing after the 2025 WEC season finale in Bahrain. Button, a former F1 champion with an impressive 15 victories across 306 races, leaves behind a legacy that only amplifies Chadwick’s role as a burgeoning star in the racing world.

As the motorsport community eagerly anticipates the 2026 season, one thing is clear: Jamie Chadwick is poised to redefine the limits of racing excellence and inspire the next generation of drivers. With her remarkable talent and groundbreaking role with Genesis Magma Racing, Chadwick is not just racing; she’s leading the charge into a new era of motorsport. Buckle up, because the future of racing looks incredibly bright!
