James Vowles vows epic revenge after chaotic podium celebration with Carlos Sainz in Qatar

Williams Team Principal Declares ‘Revenge’ After Wild Podium Celebration in Qatar

In an electrifying twist of events during the recent Qatar Grand Prix, Williams team principal James Vowles is gearing up for a comical yet fierce act of ‘revenge’ following a chaotic podium celebration that saw him tackled to the ground by none other than Carlos Sainz’s manager—also named Carlos Sainz. This incident unfolded as the team celebrated a remarkable podium finish for their driver, showcasing the intense emotions and rivalries that drive Formula 1.

Carlos Sainz, fresh from his switch to Williams from Ferrari at the start of the season, delivered a stunning performance, starting from seventh on the grid. The Spanish racer seized the opportunity presented by a Lap 7 Safety Car, racing up to fourth position as the race resumed, trailing behind the formidable McLaren duo and championship leader Max Verstappen. Sainz’s relentless pace and strategic prowess allowed him to secure third place, finishing just 0.7 seconds ahead of Lando Norris, marking his second podium with Williams and Vowles’s second as team principal.

However, the jubilation took a hilarious turn when Vowles, attempting to escape the podium pandemonium, found himself ambushed by Sainz’s manager. The encounter resulted in a playful yet chaotic tackle, vividly captured and shared on social media by the team. In a candid video, Vowles recounted the unexpected encounter that left him temporarily blinded by champagne as he sprinted away from the celebration.

“So, the trick behind all of these is when you sit down, look left and right and find the people with the champagne bottles, because they are the ones you sprint away from at speed,” Vowles explained, humorously acknowledging his miscalculation in dodging the antics of the Sainz family. “On this particular occasion, Caco had already prepared for that. Carlos Sainz’s manager, also called Carlos Sainz just to make my life better, he prepared for that.”

The spirited team principal described the moment in vivid detail: “He really did trip me up. And I couldn’t see a damn thing because he had two champagne bottles poured into my eyes and that’s all I remember. And then he said, ‘Why did you run?’ and I was like: ‘This is why I run, to avoid this.’”

Despite the hilarity of the situation, Vowles emerged unscathed and more determined than ever, boldly declaring, “I will have my revenge, I assure you, on him at some point.”

As the season approaches its thrilling conclusion, Williams has solidified its position with a guaranteed fifth in the Constructors’ Championship standings, amassing 137 points—45 points clear of Racing Bulls, with only 43 points remaining up for grabs. This exciting finish leaves fans eagerly anticipating what’s next for the team and its dynamic drivers as they prepare for the final race of the season.

Stay tuned as the Williams team continues to rise, and watch for Vowles’s playful retribution in what promises to be a riveting end to the 2025 Formula 1 season!
