Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is recalling 20,999 vehicles in the U.S. due to a defect in the passenger airbags that may not adequately protect the occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves Range Rover Evoque models produced between 2021 and 2025.
“Brand dealers will replace the passenger airbag module free of charge. Owners of these models will be notified to take their Evoque to the workshop starting August 29, 2025”, adds the NHTSA note. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration further states that the affected models may be equipped with an airbag with a rupture, “that does not adequately protect” the occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, the rupture of the airbag could allow hot gases to escape, which could cause burns, it added.
