Jaguar Land Rover is concerned about the possibility of facing an aluminum shortage that could affect the production of its models until the end of 2024.
At the root of this concern for the British car manufacturer is the flooding that affected a Swiss factory of its main supplier, Novelis, as well as two factories owned by another aluminum supplier, Constellium, as reported by “Automotive News Europe”.
The scarcity of the essential material “will restrict our production for the remainder of this quarter and the next”, according to the publication citing the financial director of the British brand, Richard Molyneux.
In order to minimize the impact on production, Jaguar Land Rover is already seeking alternative sources of aluminum supply, as well as taking advantage of the Tata ecosystem to prevent the possibility of automotive production being affected.
However, Jaguar Land Rover does not appear to be the only brand affected by the aluminum crisis, as according to the same publication, Porsche, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz were also affected, but have already found alternative sources.
