Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has postponed the launch of the electric models of the Range Rover and Jaguar, to allow for more testing and to give time for the demand for luxury electric vehicles to increase.
The information revealed this Friday by the British newspaper “The Guardian” indicates that the car manufacturer has already informed customers that deliveries of the Range Rover Electric will not begin this year, as initially planned, while a source told the newspaper that the first electric vehicle from Jaguar will start production in August 2026.
The models, which are the first electric vehicles manufactured directly by JLR, require extended testing, which has partly contributed to the delay, according to the report accessed by the British publication.
“Our vehicle plans and architectures are flexible so that we can adapt to different market and customer demands,” the company said in a statement to “Reuters“, maintaining the intention to sell electric models for all its brands by 2030.
It is worth noting that earlier this month, JLR, owned by Tata Motors, recorded a 10.7% decline in first-quarter sales, pressured by a temporary pause in shipments to the U.S. and a reduction in older Jaguar models.
