Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has renewed its partnership with British sound company Meridian to provide and develop high-performance sound technology for the next generation electric vehicle architectures of the British manufacturer’s brands.
This expansion of the partnership will allow Meridian experts to participate in the design of new models at an even earlier stage. This foundational work will define the relationship between JLR and Meridian, as the interior design will ensure an optimal audio experience.
Currently, the pinnacle of Meridian audio technology for vehicles is the exclusive Meridian sound system, available in Range Rover models. This 1600 W system provides a surround sound experience, incorporating 35 speakers, including two 20 W speakers in each of the four main headrests.
The third-generation active road noise cancellation system monitors wheel vibrations, tire noise, and engine sounds transmitted to the cabin, and generates a cancellation signal that is emitted by the system’s speakers.
This technology monitors tire vibrations, tire noise, and engine sounds in the cabin, in addition to generating a cancellation signal that is emitted through the speakers, helping occupants arrive at their destination rested, even after a long journey.
“The partnership between JLR and Meridian allows us to provide systems with exceptional sound without affecting the vehicle’s design language. We will work together to ensure that the audio in our vehicles continues to be as engaging and enjoyable as possible,” emphasized Callum Hubbard, Technical Specialist, Vehicle Audio Technology, at JLR.
