Jacques Vileneuve and Daniel Ricciardo have been in the spotlight since the Canadian Grand Prix for all the wrong reasons. The saga between the former world champion and the current RB driver took another twist. Vileneuve advised Ricciardo not to take things personally regarding his comments about the Canadian GP.
During last week’s event in Montreal, Vileneuve made a harsh comment about why Ricciardo is in Formula 1. He openly criticized Ricciardo’s performances in recent years. However, it was Ricciardo who had the last word, responding directly with “eat sh*t” when asked about Vileneuve’s comments. In response, Vileneuve once again asked Ricciardo not to take it personally.
While Vileneuve advised the eight-time race winner to be careful with his words, he still stands by his observations about Ricciardo in the Canadian GP. Vileneuve believes that Ricciardo needs to consistently perform better. In the Montreal event, Ricciardo finished in eighth place.
This year, Ricciardo has been outperformed by his teammate at RB. The majority of the team’s points have been scored by Tsunoda, the Japanese driver who has accumulated 19 points compared to Ricciardo’s nine. However, Ricciardo’s performance in Canada will boost his confidence for the remainder of the 2024 F1 season. The next race on the F1 calendar is the Spanish Grand Prix, and it will be interesting to see how Ricciardo fares on the Barcelona circuit.
