Jack Doohan reveals shocking truth: Flavio Briatore sealed his fate before F1 finale

Jack Doohan's F1 Nightmare: Flavio Briatore's Ruthless Rule Decides His Fate!

In the cutthroat arena of Formula 1, where only the fiercest survive, Jack Doohan has emerged to recount the harrowing tale of his turbulent journey under the iron grip of the notorious team boss, Flavio Briatore. With only 22 coveted seats available in the sport, the pressure is unbearable, and the competition is unrelenting. Many drivers have succumbed to the brutal nature of F1, and Doohan's experience is a chilling reminder of how quickly fortunes can change.

Having been thrust into the limelight with just seven races to prove his worth at Alpine, Doohan's fate was sealed before he even had a chance to breathe. In a shocking twist, Briatore orchestrated a driver swap at the end of the 2024 season that saw Esteban Ocon exit for Haas, paving the way for Doohan to step into the unforgiving cockpit. Yet, the young Australian's moment in the sun was tragically short-lived; after a mere six rounds in the 2025 championship, he was unceremoniously ousted in favor of reserve driver Franco Colapinto.

The drama doesn't end there. In a recent episode of the popular Netflix series “Drive to Survive,” Briatore brazenly boasted about his enjoyment of firing underperforming drivers, a statement that sent shockwaves through the F1 community. Doohan himself opened up about the harrowing reality of his brief tenure, revealing that he had received death threats following his replacement after the Miami Grand Prix in 2025. This grim revelation paints a vivid picture of the psychological toll that the sport can inflict on its competitors.

Now, as he takes on a new role as a reserve driver at Haas—ironically the same team Ocon now calls home—Doohan reflects on the chaotic circumstances that marred his rookie season. Speaking candidly to F1.com, he disclosed that whispers of his impending exit circulated long before it was formally announced. “At the end of 2024, there was already some chat going on, which puts a little bit of an eerie feeling and strangeness in the air,” he lamented, highlighting the tension that loomed over him from the start.

“I was always on borrowed time, I guess,” Doohan admitted, revealing the grim reality of knowing his days were numbered before he even stepped on the track. “To be honest, it was a big shame, but I’m trying to put that behind me, to start fresh.”

As he looks forward to his new chapter with Haas, Doohan's aspirations remain bold. He dreams of a future where he can race again in an environment that, while still ruthless, offers a more welcoming atmosphere and an equal playing field. The stark contrast between his hopes and the harsh realities of F1 serves as a stark reminder of the relentless nature of the sport, where glory can vanish in an instant, and dreams can be shattered at the hands of ruthless decision-makers.

With the world watching, Jack Doohan's story is one of resilience in the face of adversity, a testament to the unyielding spirit required to thrive in the electric world of Formula 1. Will he rise from the ashes of his tumultuous past to seize the opportunity he so desperately craves? Only time will tell.
