Jack Doohan reveals chilling death threats during Alpine F1 saga in shocking Netflix docuseries

In a startling revelation that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, former Formula 1 driver Jack Doohan has come forward to disclose the harrowing death threats he endured during his turbulent stint with the Alpine racing team. The Australian, who made his F1 debut in 2025, found himself at the center of a storm as speculation mounted about his potential replacement by rising star Franco Colapinto. This relentless pressure culminated in a chilling experience that left Doohan fearing for his life.

“I got serious death threats for this Miami Grand Prix, saying they’re going to kill me here if I’m not out of the car,” Doohan recounted in the upcoming eighth season of Netflix's hit series “Drive to Survive.” The gravity of the situation escalated when he revealed he received six or seven emails threatening horrific violence if he remained in the cockpit beyond the Miami race. “All my limbs will be cut off,” was one of the more graphic threats he disclosed, painting a picture of the extreme hostility he faced.

The 23-year-old driver shared a particularly distressing incident where he found himself surrounded by armed men while out with his girlfriend and trainer. “I had to call my police escort to come and get it under control,” he recalled, underscoring the grave reality that F1 drivers can face beyond the racetrack.

After the Miami Grand Prix debacle, Doohan was relegated to a reserve driver role at Alpine, and he has since signed with Haas as a reserve driver for the 2026 season. “I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” Doohan expressed, optimistic about his future in the sport. “It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career.” He acknowledged the opportunity given to him by Haas, stating his eagerness to tackle the challenges ahead.

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu shared his enthusiasm about Doohan’s arrival, highlighting the significance of his racing experience and the challenges associated with remaining prepared as a reserve driver. “The dedication required to remain sharp and prepared to race while getting to know how the team works is challenging,” Komatsu noted, emphasizing the competencies Doohan brings to the table.

As Jack Doohan turns the page on a tumultuous chapter in his career, the motorsport world watches closely. His story serves as a stark reminder of the pressures faced by athletes at the highest levels and the dark side of competitive racing that can sometimes overshadow the thrill of the sport. With a new team and a renewed sense of purpose, Doohan is ready to embrace the future, but the scars from his past experiences will undoubtedly linger.
