Isack Hadjar’s Stunning Rise Threatens Liam Lawson’s Red Bull Future: Who Will Secure the Seat?

Isack Hadjar’s meteoric rise in the world of Formula 1 is shaking the foundations of Red Bull Racing, and with it comes a dramatic twist in the battle for Yuki Tsunoda’s seat alongside Max Verstappen in 2026. Liam Lawson, one of Hadjar’s fiercest competitors for the coveted position, has made a bold statement: Hadjar is ready to take the leap to Red Bull, and it’s a game-changer for the entire grid.

As the 2026 season approaches, the stakes have never been higher for Lawson and Hadjar, who are both aspiring to replace the struggling Tsunoda. While Tsunoda still holds onto hope, his recent performances have left much to be desired. Currently, the young Japanese driver has managed only nine points over 14 races, languishing in P19 in the Drivers’ standings. This lackluster showing stands in stark contrast to Hadjar’s impressive form, which includes seven points-scoring finishes in just 16 races, highlighted by a stunning third-place finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, where he crossed the line just two seconds behind Verstappen himself.

Lawson had his shot at the Red Bull seat earlier this season but found himself demoted back to Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls, after a rocky start. Despite his initial struggles—failing to break into the top 20 during qualifying in China—he has since rallied to score 20 points, putting him ahead of Tsunoda. Yet even with this resurgence, it’s Hadjar who is stealing the spotlight as the rookie sensation of the season.

Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko, is playing it cool, stating they will take their time before making a decision: “We’ve extended the options, or rather, the drivers have extended them with us.” Marko indicated that a decision won’t come until late September or October, as they want to analyze more races before making the crucial call. This uncertainty spells potential doom for Lawson, who could find himself sidelined or worse, facing the end of his F1 dreams if Hadjar secures the seat.

In an interview at Monza, Lawson praised Hadjar’s impressive performance, saying, “He’s done a very good job this year. To have a podium this season is pretty spectacular. He’s doing a really great job.” Lawson acknowledges that while many drivers feel ready for the next step, the actual performance of the car next season will play a significant role in determining who gets the nod. “As a driver, he’s ready,” Lawson insists, adding, “If you’re ready to be in F1 in the first place, I think you’d be ready for that kind of position.”

When the conversation shifted to Tsunoda, Lawson chose his words carefully. With the pressure mounting, he refrained from criticizing Tsunoda’s performance. “It’s hard to compare,” he remarked, emphasizing the disparity in their race experiences. Tsunoda’s streak of eight races without scoring points certainly complicates the narrative, especially with Verstappen fighting for podiums while his teammate struggles.

As for Lawson’s future, he remains focused on the now. “Honestly, it’s not really something I think about,” he stated. His priority is to maximize his performance in the remaining eight races, aiming to secure his place on the F1 grid, regardless of whether it’s with Red Bull or Racing Bulls next season. “A lot can happen,” he concluded, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the sport.

The tension is palpable, and as the 2026 season looms, the countdown is on. Will Isack Hadjar seize the day and claim his spot in F1 history, or will Lawson defy the odds and reclaim his seat? One thing is for certain: the battle for the Red Bull seat is heating up, and every race brings us closer to the truth. Fans won’t want to miss a moment of this thrilling showdown!
