Max Verstappen’s New Teammate Expresses Frustration Over Red Bull’s Spotlight

In a shocking revelation that has sent ripples through the Formula 1 community, Isack Hadjar, the latest recruit to Max Verstappen’s Red Bull Racing team, has candidly admitted to feeling a wave of annoyance regarding the intense media scrutiny that has accompanied his promotion. As one of the standout talents of the 2025 F1 season, Hadjar has made headlines for earning a podium finish at Zandvoort and outshining fellow Red Bull competitors Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. Now, as he gears up to replace Tsunoda for the 2026 season, the pressure is on for Hadjar to prove himself amidst a backdrop of high expectations.

Hadjar’s transition to the Red Bull team is undeniably steeped in pressure. The French driver steps into a team environment notorious for its brutal competition and high turnover of drivers. Verstappen’s reputation as a “team-mate killer” precedes him, having previously seen off notable drivers including Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, and Lawson. With this history, the question on everyone’s lips is: can Hadjar escape the same fate?

During a recent press conference at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hadjar was forthright about his feelings towards the fame that follows his new role. When asked if he is comfortable with the increased attention, he did not hold back, stating, “No. It’s just annoying, if anything.” His candidness continued as he humorously suggested, “I’ll have a plan to disappear! Wear a mask, I don’t know,” highlighting the unique pressures faced by rookies in the spotlight of such a high-stakes environment.

Despite the looming seriousness of his new position, Hadjar emphasized his dedication to the sport, insisting that he’s not there to merely enjoy himself. “VCARB is a family team. At the same time, I’m not here to have a laugh. I have friends to have fun with when I come home. And when I’m on track, I’m here to work. I don’t mind it,” he said, demonstrating a commendable focus as he prepares for the challenges ahead.

Support has been pouring in for Hadjar from across the F1 paddock, notably from seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton has voiced his concerns regarding the alarming trend of driver turnover at Red Bull, calling for changes to better support Hadjar in what will be only his second season in Formula 1. With Hamilton’s backing, Hadjar’s path may be easier, but the road ahead is still fraught with challenges.

As the 2026 season approaches, all eyes will be on Isack Hadjar—will he break the mold and survive the fierce competition at Red Bull, or will he find himself yet another name on the team’s ever-growing list of ousted drivers? The countdown to the season begins, and the world of F1 is eager to see how this young talent will navigate the treacherous waters of team dynamics and media frenzy. Will Hadjar rise to the occasion, or will the pressure prove too much? Only time will tell.
