Isack Hadjar Shakes Up F1 with Thrilling Red Bull Debut in Abu Dhabi Testing

The excitement in the Formula 1 world reached fever pitch as Isack Hadjar marked his spectacular debut with Red Bull Racing during the exhilarating post-season testing in Abu Dhabi. This event saw a remarkable assembly of 25 drivers conquer the Yas Marina circuit, collectively racking up an impressive 2,500 laps as they closed the curtains on the F1 2025 season.

The atmosphere was electric as Lando Norris, the newly crowned World Champion, took to the track sporting a dazzling golden helmet—a tribute to his monumental title win. Fresh off his victory celebrations and with a slightly hoarse voice, Norris was joined by fellow racer Oscar Piastri for crucial tyre testing sessions, while Pato O’Ward showcased his skills in the young driver test.

But the spotlight shone brightly on Isack Hadjar, who donned Red Bull Racing colors for the first time since his promotion to the prestigious team. Hadjar teamed up with Red Bull reserve driver Ayumu Iwasa for an intensive day of testing that set the stage for his promising future in F1. This was not merely a debut; it was a bold statement from the young French driver, as he completed an admirable 111 laps.

In addition to Hadjar’s debut, another fresh face, Arvid Lindblad, took to the wheel for his first test in a current Formula 1 car, gearing up for his ascent to the Racing Bulls next season. Such developments signal a thrilling evolution within the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.

As the teams delved into the technical aspects, Pirelli’s tyre testing was a focal point, with modifications made to simulate the anticipated F1 2026 machines. The new 2026 rubber, which is 25mm narrower at the front and 30mm at the back, also boasts a lighter weight of 2.1kg per set. This cutting-edge technology was put to the test by a mix of full-time drivers and senior reserves, including Stoffel Vandoorne of Aston Martin, who navigated the intricacies of modified car setups.

The day was not without its challenges; Haas driver Esteban Ocon faced a setback, managing only four laps due to an engine issue that marred his testing session. Meanwhile, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli emerged as the lap count leader, logging an impressive 157 laps alongside reserve driver Frederik Vesti, who contributed to a staggering total of 312 laps for the Mercedes team.

The excitement didn’t end there. Aston Martin junior Jak Crawford clocked the fastest time of the day, with rookie drivers dominating the leaderboard and claiming all five of the fastest lap times. Antonelli, being the fastest among full-time drivers, showcased the fierce competition that lies ahead.

As teams prepare for a winter regroup and gear up for a private five-day test at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in just seven weeks, the stakes have never been higher. With fresh talent like Hadjar and Lindblad emerging and pivotal testing underway, the F1 landscape is poised for an electrifying evolution as we step into the uncharted territory of F1 2026. Buckle up, because the future of Formula 1 is racing into action!
