Isack Hadjar Claims Alonso Would Dominate F1 Races if Manual Shifts Returned

In a thrilling turn of events, a rising star in the F1 world has made a bold prediction that could shake the foundations of the sport. Isack Hadjar, a young driver who entered the scene as one of the rookies in the 2025 season, has set tongues wagging with his prophecy regarding a seasoned champion.

Despite a rocky start in Australia, Hadjar has surged back with a vengeance, outperforming both his current and former Racing Bulls teammates, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. This stellar performance has catapulted him to P10 in the drivers’ standings, putting him in the midst of fierce battles on the track with the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

The 20-year-old driver dropped a bombshell by suggesting that if F1 reverted to using manual shifts, the legendary Fernando Alonso would dominate every single race. Hadjar openly admitted his admiration for Alonso’s unmatched skills, recognizing that the Spaniard’s expertise with manual transmissions would give him an unbeatable edge on the track.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Ayrton Senna, known for his mastery of manual gearboxes in the ’80s and ’90s, Hadjar marveled at the sheer difficulty and precision required to handle such machinery. Reflecting on the past eras of F1 racing, he acknowledged the impracticality of reintroducing manual shifts in the modern, high-speed cars of today, emphasizing the intense physical and mental demands it would place on drivers.

The shift from manual to electronic, paddle-controlled gearboxes in modern F1 cars has undoubtedly streamlined operations for drivers, enhancing reliability and allowing them to focus more on racing strategies. The days of intricate heel-and-toe footwork and split-second decision-making during gear shifts, as seen in Senna’s era, have given way to a more automated and efficient system, enabling racers to concentrate on optimizing their performance on the track.

Hadjar’s daring prediction has sparked debates among fans and experts alike, raising intriguing questions about the evolution of technology in F1 and the impact on driver skills and racing dynamics. As the sport hurtles towards the future, the specter of the past champions looms large, reminding us of the timeless allure of raw talent and pure racing spirit in the fast-paced world of Formula 1.
