Isack Hadjar poised to defy Max Verstappen’s curse at Red Bull: can he succeed where others failed?

Isack Hadjar: The Rising Star Poised to Conquer the Red Bull Challenge

In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, Isack Hadjar is gearing up to step into one of the most intense roles in motorsport—Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull Racing. Will he shatter the so-called “Max Verstappen curse” that has claimed the careers of several talented drivers? Since 2018, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Sergio Perez, and Liam Lawson have all succumbed to the pressure of racing alongside the Dutch phenom, each unable to harness the raw power and precision demanded by the Red Bull machines.

Now, as Yuki Tsunoda joins this unfortunate list, the question looms: Can Hadjar succeed where others have faltered? The answer may lie in the seismic changes coming to Formula 1 in 2026. With a complete overhaul of the chassis and power unit regulations, the landscape is set to transform dramatically. This unprecedented shift could provide Hadjar with a golden opportunity to mold the RB22 to his unique driving style rather than carrying the weight of his predecessors’ failures.

Unlike past drivers who struggled with Verstappen’s razor-sharp car setup, Hadjar enters a new era where he can learn and adapt from a “clean sheet of paper.” The new regulations will undoubtedly alter car dynamics, set-up strategies, and energy deployment, allowing Hadjar to grow and thrive in an environment that is less shackled by the past.

Former Red Bull chief Christian Horner might have downplayed the challenges faced by Verstappen’s teammates, but the truth is undeniable. As Albon once shared, the psychological burden of driving a car that demands perfection can lead to devastating consequences for even the most skilled drivers. The intense pressure can stifle a driver’s rhythm and flow, turning the once-promising career into a cautionary tale.

Hadjar, however, could be the driver to break this cycle. His impressive rookie season has caught the eye of Red Bull, and with the new leadership style taking shape under team principal Laurent Mekies, the environment appears much more conducive to nurturing young talent. Mekies has a solid track record of developing drivers, having honed his skills at both Racing Bulls and Ferrari, and he is poised to guide Hadjar as he navigates this daunting challenge.

The chaotic backdrop that has plagued Red Bull in recent years—with drivers unceremoniously dropped or demoted amidst internal strife—will not deter Hadjar. Unlike Lawson, whose swift exit came on the heels of a tumultuous team dynamic, Hadjar seems set to capitalize on a rejuvenated Red Bull culture. The departure of long-standing team officials may usher in a fresh perspective, one that focuses on collaboration and growth rather than the cutthroat competition that has historically defined the team.

As the clock ticks down to the 2026 season, all eyes will be on Isack Hadjar. Can he defy the odds and emerge victorious from the shadows of his predecessors? The world of Formula 1 is watching, and it could be the dawn of a new era at Red Bull Racing. Don’t miss any of the thrilling action; mark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable season!
