Is F1 Superstar Lewis Hamilton Losing His Throne as British Media Turns Against Him?

The British media is buzzing with doubts about Lewis Hamilton’s F1 dominance as Nico Hulkenberg steals the spotlight at Silverstone. Despite high expectations for Hamilton on his home turf, the British Grand Prix turned into a disappointing P4 finish for the seven-time world champion. British sports writer Oliver Brown from The Telegraph expressed his dismay, highlighting Hamilton’s struggles to overtake Hulkenberg’s Sauber during the race.

Hamilton’s performance this season has raised eyebrows, especially as his teammate Charles Leclerc has outperformed him on multiple occasions. Even at Silverstone, where Hamilton had the upper hand in the Ferrari, Leclerc failed to secure a top 10 finish in challenging weather conditions. Hamilton, in a post-race interview, attributed his difficulties to the tricky handling of the Ferrari in the rain, further fueling speculations about his declining prowess on the track.

Brown’s analysis suggests that Hamilton’s performance at Silverstone is just another piece of evidence pointing to his diminishing star power. Despite the support from the home crowd and his past success at the circuit, Hamilton’s inability to close the gap with Hulkenberg has led some to question his future in the sport. However, it may be premature to write off the champion based on one race alone.

While Hamilton’s fourth-place finish may not be ideal, it is essential to consider the challenges posed by the SF-25 car rather than solely blaming the driver. Even Leclerc’s disappointing P14 finish indicates broader issues within the Ferrari team. As F1 transitions to a new era in 2026, Hamilton’s fans and critics alike should exercise patience before passing final judgment on his career.

The scrutiny on Hamilton’s performance contrasts with the lack of criticism directed at Leclerc, who has also struggled with the Ferrari’s performance this season. With seven world titles under his belt, Hamilton faces heightened expectations, but his legacy in the sport should not be dismissed hastily. Despite recent setbacks, the British superstar still has the potential to reclaim his place at the top of Formula 1.

As the F1 season unfolds, all eyes will be on Hamilton to see if he can bounce back from his Silverstone disappointment and prove that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. The road ahead may be challenging, but counting out a champion like Hamilton prematurely could prove to be a costly mistake for his critics and fans alike.
