Iron Lynx, the partner team of Mercedes-AMG, has officially announced the trio of drivers that will commandeer its third AMG LMGT3 at the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours race this year. The team, waving the Italian flag, will mark the first Mercedes-AMG campaign at La Sarthe since 1999. The line-up for the No. 63 invitational entry includes professional driver Luca Stolz, along with the Australian father-son pair of Stephen and Brenton Grove.
Iron Lynx is bolstering its presence at the 93rd iteration of the French classic race, supplementing its existing pair of FIA WEC LMGT3 full-season cars. The decision to add an extra vehicle to the race roster stems from an automatic invitation secured by winning the 2024 European Le Mans Series LMGT3 championship.
Iron Lynx CEO, Andrea Piccini, expressed his enthusiasm about the expanded program, saying, “We are thrilled to field an additional car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, representing Mercedes-AMG in their comeback edition. Stephen and Brenton bring a wealth of experience to the table, making them a valuable asset to the team. As for Luca, his exceptional driving skills and rich experience make him an indispensable part of the team. From my previous stint as his teammate, I know he is a remarkable talent that the team can truly depend on.”
GT racing veterans, the Groves, are no strangers to SRO competitions across Asia and Australia with their team — Grove Racing. They have marked six joint starts in the Bathurst 12 Hour. Brenton Grove, who alongside his father is set to debut at Le Mans in June, called the opportunity a career pinnacle. “Competing in the world’s biggest race with my father and Luca is definitely a career highlight. I have been a fan of the race since childhood, so being a part of it during its golden era is incredibly special. The challenge is something I am eagerly awaiting.”
Iron Lynx’s full-season WEC trios, who debuted together in Qatar earlier this week, round off their three-pronged strategy for the event in France. The No. 60 team comprises Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni, and Matteo Cairoli, while the No. 61 team includes Christian Ried, Lin Hodenius, and Maxime Martin sharing the duties behind the wheel.
As anticipation builds, the first version of the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours entry list is expected to be released tomorrow. The international motor racing community eagerly awaits to see the line-ups that will grace the illustrious event.
