Hyundai announced that the Ioniq 5 has achieved a new record in the “Guinness World Records” for the greatest altitude variation reached by an electric vehicle.
The attempt to break the record was organized by Hyundai Motor India and carried out by the professional team from Evo India, with the Ioniq 5 setting a new record by registering an altitude variation of 5,802 meters.
The record-breaking journey began at Umling La in Leh Ladakh, located 5,799 meters above sea level, and ended in Kuttanad, Kerala, situated three meters below sea level, taking 14 days and covering a distance
of over 4,900 km, facing challenging terrain and extreme weather conditions, from freezing temperatures and steep passes in the Himalayan mountains to the humid coastal regions of Kerala.
“The performance of the Ioniq 5 in such extreme conditions reflects its engineering capability and durability”, said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited.
