SAIC Motor has officially revealed the interior of the new electric MG4 ahead of its debut, which will take place in China on August 5. One of the major highlights of the cabin of the new MG model is the intelligent infotainment system developed in partnership with Oppo, featuring a 15.6” screen.
The new infotainment system is the first collaboration between MG and Oppo, and is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, offering multiplatform connectivity, vehicle control via smartphone, and gesture navigation. Additional features include interaction with artificial intelligence, app mirroring, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Also noteworthy are the new seats that have been redesigned to enhance ergonomics. Each seat is equipped with a cushion 503 mm long and includes ventilation and heating.
The driver’s footwell now adopts a flat pedal angle of 46.4 degrees, designed to reduce leg strain on longer journeys. The backrests are constructed as a single piece for greater support.
At the rear, MG announced that the seat is at 522 mm and the backrests of the seats are reclined at an angle of 27 degrees. In addition, the floor is completely flat to increase legroom, and the seats fold in a 60/40 configuration to enhance load flexibility. Also noteworthy is a panoramic roof with an integrated sunshade that is available in the higher trim levels.
Remember that the new MG4 is based on the Nebula EV platform from SAIC, and measures 4.39 meters in length, 1.84 m in width, and 1.55 m in height. The wheelbase is 2.75 meters, which represents an increase of 45 mm compared to its predecessor. MG argues that the new dimensions allow for increased interior space for rear seat passengers.
Remember that the new MG4 electric has already entered production in China and that its arrival in the world’s largest automotive market will happen in early August.
